This week has been a whopper of a week for Bitcoin as the currency enjoyed unrivaled levels of success in annual black Friday sales, and the prices of the coin have also been maintained at a slightly higher level compared to the prices seen earlier this month.
Bitcoin was the word on everyone’s mouth this week with massive developments being made that were clearly beneficial to the long-term health of the coin. In terms of Bitcoin, the week flew into full swing with a whole host of major retailers announcing their participation in the Bitcoin Black Friday. This year, the event – a massive success year in and year out – managed to attract even the heavy weights of the consumer electronics industry.
NewEgg, known internationally as one of the best bangs-for-the-buck electronics retailer, flung itself into the depths of cryptocurrency as it took part in its first Bitcoin Black Friday.

If an insane Black Friday sale doesn’t tickle your fancy, then eBay’s tease may do so. Earlier in the week, eBay CEO Devin Wenig, let slip probable plans to accept Bitcoin into the online store. Bitcoin has already been teased by PayPal and this new thread of possibility has helped push Bitcoin further into the limelight. David Wenig, CEO of eBay, explained:
Both eBay and PayPal are open to [Bitcoin]—PayPal is experimenting with it—and through our relationship we’re likely to do the same. I am very open to it.
As if these developments weren’t good enough, Kraken may become the next owners of the defunct exchange MtGox, as courts approve takeover. Once bringing painful memories to Bitcoin users, the crash of the exchange will be left as a permanent reminder of the volatility and vulnerability of Bitcoin.
This new development came with a small number of MtGox customers claiming to have received a payout from MtGox. With Kraken taking over investigations and attempting recoveries of lost sums of Bitcoins it may just be a matter of time before you receive what is rightly owed to you.
To conclude, the week began on a whopper and ended on a shocker as the Black Friday sales brought in huge amounts of sales all in Bitcoin. With Bitcoin taking bigger and bigger strides achieving statistics never dreamed of before, you might just wake up tomorrow to see eBay and PayPal accepting Bitcoin as unlikely as this might seem.
